Meet Our Director

The Navajo Division of Public Safety is overseen by Executive Division Director Michael Anderson and Deputy Director Michael Henderson. Director Michael Anderson was appointed by President Dr. Buu Nygren and confirmed by Navajo Nation Council on April of 2024 as the Executive Director for the Division of Public Safety.

Director Anderson as a leader is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities. Director Anderson, who has dedicated his professional career to public safety, was confirmed following a rigorous review of his background with his experience in the Criminal Justice Field exceeding 25 years: 17 years of law enforcement, 8 years as a judicial role, and a community leadership.

With many years of experience in law enforcement and emergency response, the Director has been at the forefront of developing and implementing policies that address public safety challenges. His strategic approach balances with first responders, emergency response, and community outreach, ensuring a comprehensive and proactive approach to public safety. Under his leadership, the departments work diligently to foster trust and collaboration.

All department roles involve organizing outreach programs, community safety workshops, and public forums to address concerns and foster trust to protect and serve.
